In order to make the battery capacity greater, the plates' surface must be as big as possible. The plates are separated each other and plunged into the electrolyte. The positive plate is brown and the negative plate is grey. The positive and the negative electrodes are made of specially manufactured lead plates. In the lead (Pb) cell the electrolyte is a solution of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) in distilled water (H2O). The electrolyte is a conducting medium in which the flow of current is accompanied by the movement of matter in the form of ions.
